New Officials Training

A structured path from interested candidate to confident, game-ready basketball official.

10-week program

Your path to certification.

Training typically runs in the fall and combines classroom instruction, court mechanics, testing and mentorship.

Registration & Orientation

Review requirements, fees and the certification process.

Rules Fundamentals

Learn definitions, violations, fouls, timing, scoring and administration.

Court Mechanics

Develop positioning, rotations, signals, communication and teamwork.

Testing & Evaluation

Prepare for rules examinations and practical evaluation.

Mentoring

Receive support from experienced officials and association leadership.

6

Game Assignments

Begin appropriate contests with continued feedback and development.
